The first inspection (emissions inspection) is performed by the exhaust gas analyzer "Smog Emission Machine". During this step of the Smog Emission check inspection, the Smog Emission Machine is looking for the levels of present Hydrocarbons, Carbon Monoxides and Nitrous Oxides in your vehicle's exhaust. These are the three (3) undesired chemicals which are responsible for the production of Smog Emissions.
The next two inspections, (the Visual and Functional), will both be performed both by our Smog Emission Technician and/or the Smog Emission Machine.
The Visual portion of the Smog Emission Inspection is the process of looking for the presence of Visible Smoke and the proper connection of several State of California required Emission Components.
The Function Inspection entails insuring proper operation of the following components and/or systems.
A. Engine Ignition Timing
B. Check Engine Light
C. Gas Cap & Filler Neck
D. Exhaust Recirculation Valve (EGR)
E. Fuel EVAP Test (LPFET)
In order to pass California's emissions test, your vehicle must produce passing results in all three test sections.

Test and Vehicle Tags at the same time. Certified Smog is a Test-Only
Station so we are licensed to perform all Smog Emission Tests for all Vehicles
required by the State of California.
Certified Smog is also a California State Licensed Registration Service so we can issue Vehicle Stickers and Registrations on the spot. We can also perform Vehicle Transfers, Verifications and Out of State Smog Emission Inspections.
